What is Occupational Therapy?

We are certified Occupational Therapists with experience in neurological, orthopedic, pulmonary, cognitive and physical conditions. Our goal is to help you maintain your independence and safety in the comfort of your own home.

In addition to the home and functional assessment, we offer OT services, caregiver training, medical equipment recommendations, fall prevention training, and pediatric services for child development.

What is a Home Modification Consultant?

We conduct detailed client-centered home evaluations with both the client and/or their caregivers present to assess the home according to the clients physical, cognitive and medical needs.  We then design solutions and develop custom designs catered to your specific abilities, interests and lifestyle. All of our designs are aimed to increase accessibility as well as creating "universal principles" for all household members to continue to live in their home without causing a disruption in their daily routine. All of our designs are aimed to increase safety and independence in the home to promote optimal childhood development and/or "aging in place" for clients to remain in their home throughout the lifespan.

My name is Laura Ramsey and I am from Norwalk, CT. I went to Ithaca College in upstate NY for both my undergraduate and graduate degree in Occupational Therapy. I love being on the water, cooking, traveling , hiking, decorating, and spending time with my family, friends and dog.

In my experience as a clinician, I have worked with children and adults with a variety of neurological, orthopedic, pulmonary and other medical diagnosis.  Much of my treatments has involved ensuring each patient gets discharged home safely and sometimes home safety evaluations are required.  I also have a passion for interior design which both combined have led me to my interest in home modifications and what homeowners and people of all ages and abilities could do  to create barrier free home environments.
